Why Attending Conference Is Important.
When you own a home based business, such as an
internet marketing business, you may ask yourself
why attending conference is important.
Sure jetting off to an exotic destinations can be fun, if you
belong to a business that offers this, you win a trip or you make
enough money in your business to afford it, but you are probably asking
“why attending conference is important?”
Running your home based business is very time consuming and
work intensive. Some days there aren’t
enough hours in a day to get your regular
work done, let alone make time for a meeting, but this is exactly
why attending conference is important.
Working a home based business can be a little isolating,
especially if you have a business where you may not have
to get out into the public much, such as internet marketing.
Recently, I attended a conference for my internet marketing business.
I had scheduled it weeks in advance. But, to be honest, the closer
the date got, the more I thought, “Why did I do this?” The training
was not close to where I lived, so I had to get up at 5am on a Saturday
morning and travel some distance. I was packed in a hotel conference
room with about 500 other people for the 7 hour event. I was feeling
pretty sorry for myself and thinking about all the things I could have
been doing at home for my business. But, let me tell you now, I would
have done it all again on Sunday, if they would have had a “part 2.”
It was that awesome! I definitely did not regret taking the time to attend.
Why attending conference is important? Here are several reasons.
1. Updates: Sure, getting team updates is important, learning about new
techniques or products is great, but you can also receive this type
of information in an email. It is great when you get to see or
customers or clients with more authority about the product, this can
be a good reason why attending conference is important.
2. Networking: Networking is another great reason why attending conference is
important. It IS important that you get out and talk with others in your field,
niche or business and learn what is going on in their businesses.
Most people are more than happy to share what is currently working
for them, tips and tricks. Making these personal contacts and friendships
is very important to your business.
3. Motivation: I feel the most important reason why attending
conference is important is the motivations it provides.
Sometimes, dealing with the daily grind of running your business
you tend to loose that emotional connection to it. That reason “Why”
you decided to do this in the first place – what ever that was for you.
Your motivation. My company hired a motivational speaker to do a
presentation…He had no direct connection to our business, his job
was to get us re-connected, motivated, excited about our business
again and he was awesome.
In today’s world of high tech, fast paced, ever changing business, many
things can be handled by fax, text, email, by webinar, phone conferences
or voice broadcasts. These tools are a great way to keep the team
connected and moving in the same direction. But there is still nothing
that compares to that face to face, look you in the eye type of contact
that moves you to remember your personal motivation for being in
in this business to begin with.
If you truly want to feel the power of your business and
remember why you became involved in the business you
have chosen, get re-energized and re-motivated go to a
conference, training or seminar.
This is why attending conference is important.
